Kaohsiung International Airport reaches Level 4 in Airport Carbon Accreditation

juin 1, 2026

Kaohsiung International Airport has achieved Level 4 of Airport Carbon Accreditation, strengthening its approach to long term carbon management and stakeholder engagement.

The airport is aligning its carbon management ambition with global climate goals while advancing operational changes focused on absolute emissions reductions. Alongside efforts within its own operations, Kaohsiung International Airport has also expanded cooperation across the wider airport community to support decarbonisation.

As part of this work, the airport strengthened its Scope 3 emissions inventory and developed a comprehensive net zero transition roadmap. It also launched a “Joint Carbon Reduction Plan” involving 38 on site stakeholders, promoting energy efficiency improvements, low carbon vehicle adoption and equipment optimisation to reduce operational emissions across the airport ecosystem.

Kaohsiung International Airport is also supporting the Taiwanese government’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel pilot initiatives while continuing to modernise airport infrastructure. The airport recently completed the replacement of 16 passenger boarding bridges and fully deployed fixed electrical ground power and pre conditioned air systems. Usage frequency of these systems increased by 3.72 times compared to the previous year, contributing to a reduction in aircraft ground emissions.

The achievement comes alongside the airport receiving ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East’s Green Airports Recognition Platinum Award, highlighting broader efforts to integrate sustainability into airport operations and planning.

Stefano Baronci, Director General at ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East said “We congratulate Kaohsiung International Airport for achieving ACI APAC & MID’s Green Airports Recognition Platinum Award, and Level 4 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation. By positioning itself as one of the leaders in efficient carbon management, Kaohsiung International Airport displays a robust commitment to building a more sustainable future. This accomplishment aligns perfectly with our industry’s collective vision of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. »
