Red Sea International Airport joins Airport Carbon Accreditation

December 11, 2025
Red Sea International Airport in Saudi Arabia, operated by daa International, has joined Airport Carbon Accreditation at Level 1. By entering the programme, the airport commits to a full assessment of its carbon emissions and to establishing the foundation for effective and measurable reductions.
This step comes shortly after the airport opened its gates in September 2023 and welcomed its first international flight in April 2024, and it aligns with its long-term ambition to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Red Sea International Airport is already advancing a range of projects to support this goal. Energy efficiency measures are being rolled out across its facilities, while 760,000 photovoltaic panels have been installed at its on-site solar farm, enabling the airport to run entirely on renewable electricity. Electric vehicles are being deployed to reduce emissions from ground operations, and the airport has begun working closely with partners to drive wider decarbonisation, including its recent decision to offer Sustainable Aviation Fuel to airlines.
