Christopher Paling is a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Aviation, Transport and the Environment at Manchester Metropolitan University. His expertise is in airport management of greenhouse gas emissions and the impact of a changing climate. In addition to his research and advisory roles, Chris teaches environmental science and sustainability on undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and guest lectures at other universities, with a focus on aviation. He is lead tutor on the three environmental courses offered by ACI World.
Prior to joining Manchester Met. in 2012, Chris worked for 11 years as an environmental advisor for Manchester Airports Group. During this time, he was responsible for climate change and carbon management policy, air quality policy and management, and implemented the environmental management standard ISO 14001. He has a Master’s degree in Pollution and Environmental Control from the University of Manchester, is a Practitioner member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a qualified environmental auditor and carbon literacy trainer.
