Mactan-Cebu International Airport takes a major step in its decarbonisation journey

Mactan-Cebu International Airport, currently accredited at Level 1 of Airport Carbon Accreditation, has completed a comprehensive onsite net zero assessment, marking a major step forward in its decarbonisation journey.

The assessment, conducted as part of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East’s Net Zero Roadmap programme, brought together experts from PA Consulting and ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East’s Head of Sustainability, Ken Lau. The team worked closely with airport staff and stakeholders to review the airport’s current carbon footprint, operational procedures, energy-consuming assets, and existing emission-reduction initiatives. In addition, interviews with senior executives provided key insights to guide the development of a tailored roadmap.

This detailed analysis will now feed into the creation of Mactan-Cebu International Airport’s Net Zero Roadmap, offering strategic recommendations across assets, fuels, and operations, along with a high-level CAPEX plan and implementation timeline. The roadmap is designed to complement the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme and provide a clear, actionable pathway towards net zero emissions.
