Paris-Beauvais Airport achieves Level 4 Transformation in Airport Carbon Accreditation

enero 22, 2025
We are delighted to announce that Paris-Beauvais Airport in France has successfully upgraded to Level 4 Transformation of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
Achieving Level 4 is a significant milestone that required Paris-Beauvais Airport to set a long-term target for absolute carbon emissions reduction, fully aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
Paris-Beauvais Airport has expanded the scope of its carbon footprint assessment to include indirect emissions such as business travel and waste treatment. Additionally, the airport has provided evidence of strong engagement from third parties, including airlines, air traffic control, service providers, and road transport operators, to collectively support its decarbonisation goals.
Paris-Beauvais Airport has already implemented impactful measures to control greenhouse gas emissions. One key initiative is equipping 100% of its 12 aircraft stations with 400 Hz power, enabling aircraft to use electricity during stopovers instead of their auxiliary engines, reducing CO2 emissions by 1,650 tonnes annually. The airport also prioritises sustainable passenger access, with 51% of travellers reaching the platform by public transport. This includes the Aérobus fleet, of which 40% runs on biofuel, saving 31,000 tonnes of CO2 annually compared to private vehicle use. Furthermore, 30% of the airport’s thermal ramp assistance vehicles have been replaced with electric models, achieving a CO2 reduction of 45 tonnes annually.
Anthony Martin, CEO of Paris-Beauvais Airport, emphasised the importance of collective efforts in addressing climate change: “Global and coordinated climate action by all stakeholders is essential to support the decarbonisation of our economies and air transport in particular. With its 1,400 direct jobs, Paris-Beauvais Airport is proud to actively participate in the ACA programme and to regularly progress towards its objectives. We are proud to join airports as large as Charles de Gaulle, Orly, Lyon, or Marseille!”
