Dalaman Airport achieves carbon neutrality for its direct emissions

marzo 12, 2026
Dalaman Airport in Turkey has achieved Level 3+ of Airport Carbon Accreditation. The airport joined the programme in 2023 with a long term objective to achieve net zero emissions across all scopes by 2050.
Reaching Level 3+ confirms that the airport has successfully measured, and reduced its carbon emissions, engaged its third parties in carbon management, and balanced its residual emissions to achieve carbon neutrality for emissions under its control.
A key part of the airport’s decarbonisation strategy is the development of an on site solar power plant. The installation already supplies a significant share of the airport’s electricity consumption and, once Phase 2 is completed, is expected to meet the airport’s full energy demand through renewable sources.
Alongside renewable energy generation, Dalaman Airport has introduced a range of energy efficiency measures across its operations. These include upgrades to lighting systems and improvements to operational processes across terminal buildings and airside infrastructure.
The airport has also established a comprehensive carbon monitoring and reporting framework to measure and manage emissions. This system supports more informed decision making and helps track progress over time.
Engagement with airport partners is another important element of the airport’s approach. Dalaman Airport works with stakeholders across the airport site to encourage joint action to reduce emissions within the wider airport ecosystem.
