Cluster 2 Airports in Saudi Arabia join at Level 1

Twenty-two airports in Saudi Arabia, operated by Cluster2 Airports, have joined the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme at Level 1. This significant step forward in climate action reflects a commitment to conducting a comprehensive assessment of each airport’s carbon footprint and developing well-defined strategies for emissions reduction. These efforts are fully aligned with the environmental goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

As part of the General Authority of Civil Aviation’s (GACA) Comprehensive Aviation Environmental Sustainability Project (CAESP), Cluster2 Airports carried out detailed carbon footprint assessments to establish clear baselines and lay the foundation for impactful emissions reduction. Their approach places emphasis on transparency, measurable progress, and the belief that sustainability is not just a department, but a mindset shared across all levels of airport operations.

Looking ahead, Cluster2 Airports will develop tailored carbon management plans for each airport, ensuring that every plan reflects the unique operations and challenges of its respective location. Future initiatives will focus on improving energy efficiency across systems such as lighting, HVAC, and ground operations, prioritising the adoption of renewable energy, and deepening engagement with stakeholders to foster a shared commitment to carbon reduction.
