Cleveland Hopkins International Airport joins Airport Carbon Accreditation at Level 1

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in the United States has joined Airport Carbon Accreditation at Level 1. By reaching this milestone, the airport commits to completing a full assessment of its CO₂ emissions and putting in place the foundations for measurable and effective carbon reduction plans. This step supports its long-term goal of achieving net zero emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 sources by 2050.

The airport has recently formalised its decarbonisation efforts through the completion of its Sustainability Management Plan (SMP). The airport is now implementing the first year of actions under the plan, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and reducing emissions. Key initiatives include the conversion of airport lighting to LED across terminal facilities, the airfield, parking areas and airport-managed street lighting. The airport is also conducting energy audits to identify further opportunities to reduce consumption in existing buildings.
