Skopje International Airport joins directly at Level 2 Reduction

We are delighted to announce that Skopje International Airport in North Macedonia has successfully achieved Level 2 Reduction in the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.

As part of TAV Airports, Skopje International Airport has demonstrated effective carbon management by setting clear targets and successfully reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The airport is actively transforming its operations with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 at the latest.

Skopje International Airport has introduced several initiatives aimed at minimising its environmental footprint. These include improving waste management, enhancing water efficiency, optimising energy consumption, and increasing the share of battery-powered ground support equipment within its fleet. Investments in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and the adoption of new technologies are also contributing to emission reductions. Additionally, dedicated staff training and awareness programmes are ensuring that sustainability remains an integral part of airport operations. In addition a Sustainability Committee has been established to oversee and manage the environmental risks associated with airport activities, ensuring that carbon reduction remains a priority.
