Northeast Philadelphia Airport achieves Level 3 of Airport Carbon Accreditation

November 26, 2025
Northeast Philadelphia Airport in the United States, operated by the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation, has reached Level 3 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
This upgrade reflects the airport’s solid advancement in managing and reducing its carbon footprint, as well as its efforts to reduce emissions generated by key partners on site, including airlines and ground handling operators.
Since joining the programme in 2022, Northeast Philadelphia Airport has taken forward a series of projects that support its ambition to reach net zero by 2050. Renovation of the primary administrative facility is currently under way and will incorporate renewable geothermal power generation. The airport has also installed the electrical infrastructure needed to host a future 1.5-megawatt solar array, laying essential groundwork for further decarbonisation of its energy supply.
With this achievement, both airports operated by the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation, Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport, are now accredited at Level 3 of the programme.
