Nantes Atlantique Airport achieves Level 4 Transformation

We are pleased to announce that Nantes Atlantique Airport in France has successfully upgraded to Level 4 Transformation of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.

Operated by VINCI Airports, Nantes Atlantique Airport has implemented a range of initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and transition towards cleaner energy sources. These include optimising temperature settings for heating and air conditioning, replacing lighting fixtures with LED technology—already completed on 90% of the runway and terminal, with full completion in car parks expected by summer 2025—and progressively shifting its fleet to low-emission electric and hybrid vehicles. The airport has also ensured that 100% of its electricity consumption is sourced from renewable energy.

Looking ahead, Nantes Atlantique Airport is taking further steps to reduce emissions by at least 90% by 2030. This includes increasing energy efficiency measures, expanding the use of renewable energy, and deploying electrification projects for aircraft stands to minimise reliance on auxiliary engines and fossil fuels. Additionally, 100 electric charging stations for runway vehicles and equipment are currently being installed, reinforcing the airport’s transition towards greener operations.
