Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi International airports in Malaysia join Airport Carbon Accreditation

We are thrilled to announce that Kota Kinabalu International Airport and Langkawi International Airport in Malaysia , both operated by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), have successfully joined Airport Carbon Accreditation at Level 1 Mapping.

By entering at Level 1, these airports have committed to conducting a comprehensive analysis of their CO₂ emissions and laying the foundation for well-structured plans to reduce their environmental impact. This marks a significant step forward in their sustainability journeys.

Kota Kinabalu International Airport has made notable efforts by implementing solar panels with a total capacity of 3.8 MW and introducing an advanced Energy Management System to improve energy efficiency across its operations. Meanwhile, Langkawi International Airport operates with solar panels generating 1.1 MW of renewable energy and has upgraded its Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system from halogen to energy-efficient LED lighting, achieving an impressive reduction in energy use of up to 90%.
