King Khaled International Airport ahieves Level 3 Optimisation

December 8, 2023

We are thrilled to announce that King Khaled International Airport, a major aviation hub in Saudi Arabia, has successfully met all the requirements to upgrade to Level 3 Optimisation in Airport Carbon Accreditation.

Having joined the programme in 2022 at Level 1 Mapping, it has shown remarkable progress in its carbon management maturity, engaging in relentless pursuit of more sustainable operations.

Operated by Riyadh Airports Company, King Khaled International Airport has implemented several key initiatives to reduce its emissions. These include enhancing sustainable transportation, optimising energy use in buildings and operations, and transitioning to electric vehicles and renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. Each of these initiatives is part of the airport’s broader target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2060.
