Fredericton International Airport strengthens its carbon management by achieving Level 2

Fredericton International Airport in Canada has achieved Level 2 of Airport Carbon Accreditation, recognising its progress in managing and reducing carbon emissions under the programme. Having first joined Airport Carbon Accreditation in 2019, the airport has continued to build a structured approach to decarbonisation.

As part of its Level 2 requirements, the airport has developed a comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance and Carbon Management Plan, establishing clear objectives, responsibilities and accountability for reducing emissions across its operations. It has also created a dedicated Sustainability Committee to oversee the implementation of its carbon management activities and support continuous improvement.

These measures have already delivered results, with the airport reporting a measurable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared with previous years. By embedding carbon management into its governance and operational planning, Fredericton International Airport is laying the foundations for further emissions reductions as it progresses through Airport Carbon Accreditation.
