AGS Airports upgrade to Level 4+

décembre 15, 2025

Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports, operated by AGS Airports, have all upgraded to Level 4+ of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme. This recognition confirms that the group’s carbon management and reduction strategies are now fully aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

The upgrade reflects AGS Airports’ clear commitment to achieving net zero for its direct emissions by 2035, a central pillar of the group’s environmental, social and governance strategy launched earlier this year. Across its airports, AGS has made steady progress in reducing operational emissions through a combination of targeted investment and long term planning.

Key measures include the transition to more sustainable fuels, such as the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil for operational vehicles, alongside continued investment in the electrification of the vehicle fleet. AGS Airports is also working closely with its airport partners, including airlines, to support wider decarbonisation efforts across the airport ecosystem.

In parallel, the group is contributing to the longer term transformation of the UK aviation sector. With funding from the Scottish Government, AGS recently led a consortium to assess the feasibility of a hydrogen production, storage and distribution hub designed to support future zero emission flights. This work underlines the role airports can play in enabling new technologies and accelerating progress towards net zero aviation.

Kam Jandu, Chief Executive of AGS Airports, said: “This is a significant achievement for AGS and acknowledgement that we are making tangible progress in decarbonising our airports while supporting the efforts of the wider aviation sector. Our ESG strategy sets out how we balance the undoubted social and economic benefits our airports deliver, with our climate change responsibilities. »

Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE said: “Congratulations to AGS Airports for reaching Level 4+ of Airport Carbon Accreditation at Southampton, Aberdeen and Glasgow airports. This is an important milestone, attesting that their carbon reduction strategy is now fully aligned with the objective of the Paris Agreement. AGS Airports’ ambition to achieve net zero for direct emissions already by 2035 is backed by real action, from electrifying their vehicle fleet to exploring hydrogen production and distribution to enable future zero emission flights. These are the kinds of concrete steps that move the aviation sector closer to decarbonisation. Hats off to the entire AGS Airports team for their commitment and hard work.”
