Phoenix Deer Valley and Phoenix Goodyear airports join Airport Carbon Accreditation

noviembre 6, 2025

Phoenix Deer Valley Airport and Phoenix Goodyear Airport in the United States have joined Airport Carbon Accreditation directly at Level 3 of the programme.

Operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department, both airports have advanced their carbon management efforts by engaging third parties in the measurement and reduction of their carbon footprint. This includes collaboration with airlines and a wide range of service providers, such as independent ground handlers, catering companies, and air traffic control – all of whom play a key role in day-to-day airport operations.

The airports have implemented an impressive range of decarbonisation initiatives aimed at cutting carbon emissions and improving operational efficiency. Their energy efficiency improvements include the installation of high-efficiency motors, LED lighting, and upgraded control systems, resulting in a reduction of more than 500 tonnes of carbon emissions. In parallel, they are expanding clean transportation, transitioning to electric vehicles and equipment, and rolling out charging infrastructure to phase out fossil fuel use.

Further strengthening their commitment to renewable energy, both airports are progressing towards the installation of on-site solar arrays, designed to generate clean power while providing shaded parking areas. Additionally, they are increasing their use of renewable energy sourced through the regional power grid to further lower overall emissions.

“Achieving Level 3 accreditation for our general aviation airports, Deer Valley and Goodyear, marks a significant step in the Department’s commitment to sustainability across our entire airport system,” said City of Phoenix Aviation Director Chad Makovsky.
