Leeds Bradford Airport reaches Level 4 of Airport Carbon Accreditation

Leeds Bradford Airport in the United Kingdom has been upgraded to Level 4 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme. The airport has aligned its carbon reduction strategy with international climate goals, with a focus on absolute emissions reductions and stronger engagement with stakeholders across the airport ecosystem.

Its climate commitments sit within a broader sustainability strategy called Together for Tomorrow, a framework that sets out measurable targets across four areas: net zero operations, environmental stewardship, community investment, and workforce wellbeing.

Towards net zero, Leeds Bradford Airport has committed to eliminating Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 through the removal of gas from its terminal and the deployment of onsite renewable energy. The airport is also part of a consortium leading a £1.5 million government-backed feasibility study into Power-to-Liquid Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Beyond the terminal, it is working to increase the share of passengers travelling by public transport to 10%, supported by the introduction of 100% Hybrid FLYER bus services. A partnership with the Aire Resilience Company is supporting regional biodiversity, and the airport continues to divert all of its waste from landfill.
