Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport reaches Level 3 Optimisation

enero 16, 2025
We are excited to announce that Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport in France has successfully upgraded to Level 3 Optimisation of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
Reaching Level 3 Optimisation requires airports to expand their carbon footprint assessments to include Scope 3 emissions, such as those generated by airlines, ground handlers, and concessionaires.
Managed by EGC AERO, a joint entity owned by the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (55%) and Egis (45%), the airport has invested in renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. A key milestone has been the installation of photovoltaic canopies over parking areas and the development of a 16-hectare solar power plant, which generates 18,130 MWh annually—equivalent to the electricity consumption of over 6,000 households.
Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport has further enhanced its operations by deploying an electric refuelling truck in partnership with World Fuel Services, significantly reducing emissions associated with refuelling activities. In addition, traditional lighting systems have been replaced with energy-efficient LED technology, while upgrades to heating systems have optimised energy use across airport facilities.
Efforts to minimise ground emissions have also been prioritised, with the use of Ground Power Units (GPU) helping to reduce reliance on aircraft auxiliary power units during operations.
