Antalya Airport achieves Level 4+ of Airport Carbon Accreditation

Antalya Airport in Turkey has been upgraded to Level 4+ of Airport Carbon Accreditation, becoming only the second airport in the country to reach this level of the programme.

Operated by Fraport TAV Antalya Airport, the airport has demonstrated that its carbon management framework is fully aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, while continuing to advance towards its Net Zero 2050 target.

Having joined Airport Carbon Accreditation in 2010, Antalya Airport has progressively strengthened its approach to carbon management. As part of its Level 4+ requirements, the airport expanded its emissions inventory to include additional Scope 3 sources in line with the GHG Protocol and further enhanced engagement with stakeholders across the airport ecosystem to identify and implement emissions reduction opportunities throughout its business partners.

The accreditation reflects a broad range of initiatives undertaken by the airport to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance. These include investments in renewable energy, the development of LEED Gold certified terminal infrastructure, and operational optimisation measures designed to support lower carbon airport operations.

One notable example is the increased use of 400 Hz fixed ground power systems during 2025, which significantly reduced reliance on aircraft auxiliary power units while on stand. This measure alone prevented approximately 24,000 tonnes of CO₂e emissions.

These actions form part of a wider sustainability strategy focused on reducing emissions across airport activities, supporting collaboration with operational partners, and contributing to the long term decarbonisation of aviation.
