Airports across Asia-Pacific & Middle East recognised at Airport Carbon Accreditation ceremony during RACE 2026 in Bangkok

During the 2026 ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly, Conference & Exhibition (RACE) 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, airports from across the region were recognised for their achievements within Airport Carbon Accreditation, highlighting continued progress in carbon management and decarbonisation efforts throughout the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region.

Since joining the programme in 2011, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East has seen steady growth in participation. The region now counts 102 accredited airports, including 41 airports certified at the higher levels of the programme. 7 airports in the region have already achieved Level 5, the highest level of Airport Carbon Accreditation, recognising airports that have reached and maintained net zero carbon emissions for emissions under their control.

Nineteen airports participated in the ceremony held during RACE 2026 in Bangkok, representing a broad range of markets and operational contexts across the region.

Special congratulations to Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), which joined Airport Carbon Accreditation directly at Level 4, and to Arar Airport, operated by Cluster2 Airports, which recently upgraded to Level 4+ and became the highest accredited airport in Saudi Arabia.

Notably, we are thrilled to witness seven airports in our regions reaching Level 5, the pinnacle of the programme since its established. This reflects a strong and sustained commitment to decarbonisation and long-term environmental sustainability.»

The ceremony also reflected the growing momentum behind airport decarbonisation across the region, with airports continuing to invest in renewable energy, operational efficiency, low emission infrastructure and stakeholder engagement to accelerate emissions reductions.
