Albuquerque International Sunport joins Airport Carbon Accreditation

December 18, 2023

We are delighted to confirm that Albuquerque International Sunport in the USA, has joined Airport Carbon Accreditation programme at Level 1 Mapping.

Operated by the Albuquerque Aviation Department, Albuquerque International Sunport has taken a significant initial step towards comprehensive carbon management. An airport at this level must compile a detailed report of the airport’s carbon emissions, figuring out where these emissions come from, and planning how to reduce them.

Key achievements in the Albuquerque International Sunport’s sustainability efforts are evident in its recycling initiatives and water conservation plan. The recycling tonnage has seen a steady increase, rising from 50 tonnes in 2020 to 96 tonnes by 2022. Additionally, the effective implementation of the Water Conservation Plan has resulted in a significant saving of over 60,000 tonnes of drinking water since the completion of the plan in April 2022.
