ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East’s new programme will assist airports in drawing up their Net Zero roadmaps

March 26, 2024

As part of its objective to foster decarbonisation in the region, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East will soon commence the so-called Net Zero Roadmap-Decarbonise Your Airport, a new programme aiming to assist airports in developing a comprehensive roadmap to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions, facilitating their progress to higher levels of Airport Carbon Accreditation.

Airports require tailored guidance and expertise as they prepare to navigate the journey toward Net Zero. Endorsed by Airport Carbon Accreditation, this new initiative will aid airports in creating and implementing their Net Zero roadmaps. To this end, ACI Asia Pacific & Middle East has joined forces with ACI EUROPE through a dedicated Memorandum of Understanding, specifically designed to pool resources and work collaboratively to advance ambitious sustainability goals for the airport industry.

At the time of writing, the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region boasts 83 accredited airports, with 18 airports at Levels 4/4+ and one Level 5 airport – Christchurch Airport in New Zealand. The region is the second most advanced and engaged in airport climate action as part of the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.

Stay tuned for more information on this initiative coming soon!
